Metop-SG B1 is the first B-type spacecraft in EUMETSAT's Metop Second Generation programme. In a polar, sun-synchronous orbit, it will carry microwave and radio-occultation instruments that measure atmospheric temperature and humidity, precipitation, winds, clouds, ice, and other environmental variables for operational weather services and climate records.
