On November 13th, 2024, a Chinese Long March 4B rocket launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The payload was the first Haiyang-4 satellite, which will, among other duties, collect data on global ocean salinity, ocean dynamics, and other environmental factors, contributing to marine environmental and ecological forecasting, water cycle monitoring, and climate change research. The satellite was placed into a 633 by 644-kilometer orbit. Chinese space authorities announced the success of the launch shortly thereafter.

Electron's 54th mission is 'Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes', a dedicated mission to low Earth orbit for a confidential commercial customer. The mission will launch from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 and will be Rocket Lab's 12th launch of 2024, increasing the record number of Electron launches achieved annually since orbital launch services began in 2018. The first two of a planned constellation of four spacecraft for the first Russian space weather monitoring system called "Ionozond". The system being created is designed to solve scientific and applied problems in obtaining fundamental knowledge about the Earth's ionosphere and to receive the ability to monitor near-Earth space continuously. Four Ionosfera-M spacecraft located in two orbital planes (two spacecraft in each plane) will be able to transmit information about physical phenomena occurring in the Earth's ionosphere due to active natural and anthropogenic influences. The "Ionozond" space system is being developed by JSC VNIIEM Corporation at the request of the Roscosmos State Corporation, and in the interests of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Roshydromet.
