A further satellite for the Russian navigation constellation for dual purposes: civilian and military, comparable to the American GPS and the European Galileo systems. According to issued NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) the launch of next GLONASS navigation satellite is planed for July 17-23, 2026 around the same time as the next batch of 16 Rassvet-3 internet satellites. On Monday, August 24, the official press release of the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that at 5:40 a.m. (Moscow time), the Aerospace Forces crew of the Plesetsk Cosmodrome successfully launched a Soyuz-2.1b medium-class launch vehicle with a spacecraft in the interests of the Ministry of Defense. A day earlier the eyewitnesses reported drone attack in the Arkhangelsk Region near the space launch facilities leading to belief that a launch from Plesetsk expected after issuing the NOTAM's warning is in final stages of preparation. "After the launch, the Soyuz-2.1b was taken into support by the ground-based automated control system of the German Titov Main Test Space Center. A stable telemetry connection has been established and maintained with the spacecraft, and its onboard systems are functioning normally."

The QZSS is a Japanese satellite navigation system that augments the U.S. GPS in the Asia-Pacific region. QZS-7 will be launched on H3 flight no. 9 on an H3 Model 22 vehicle. QZS-7 would have completed the 7-satellite configuration of the QZSS but QZS-6 was lost in a Dec 2025 launch failure. In addition to the main payload, it carries a Situational Awareness Camera Hosted Instrument (SACHI), a Space Situational Awareness (SSA) payload developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory for the U.S. Space Force. A similar camera piggybacked on the QZS-5 satellite as well.
